Well worth the money,
I bought this outfit on a leap of faith, and was not disappointed. I was concerned about the power of the lights, but did not need to worry about it. other than blowing two fuses, I have had no problems. I will be buying more lights and larger soft-boxes, and the included ones don’t cover well for shooting multiple people. the kit is a great place to start if you are just starting out. I had no experience with studio lights and was a little scared getting into it. This setup made it easy.

My budget just does not permit me to spend thousands on super-professional lighting. I know the old adage..Buy the best once and you won’t have to buy again. Sounds nice and it is true, but my working capital is limited and I needed a strobe kit. I shoot photos as part of my industrial job. The Marketing Dept uses the images for sales literature. I have other Cowboy lighting gear and it always works for my needs so I went for these strobes. No, they don’t have all the fine controls and options of strobes costing a lot more money, but they do the job for me. I know portrait photographers debate and rave about color balance with high-end strobes but I am shooting industrial subjects. If I can get an image without a lot of shadow or glare I am happy. I process the images in Lightroom and everyone calls me a wonderful photographer. If I had the money would I buy higher-end strobes? Maybe I would once I mastered strobe use and started seeing the limits of the Cowboy Studio equipment. But right now I am completely happy with what I got for the money spent.
A detail you may find helpful. Some reviewers say the stands are cheap or flimsy. Compared to very expensive gear designed to travel the world and arrive in one piece the Cowboy gear is weaker and would not stand up to baggage handlers. But if you are carefully handling your gear the Cowboy equipment will last for years.

|Great set, durable & can’t beat the price!,
I love this kit! I was leary at first buying it because I’m new to strobes. I’m use to constant light so this was a little scary for me. When it arrived, everything was packaged great – nice bag to carry it in. The stands are great – very durable and sturdy! Shipping was very quick – arrived in about 4 days.
The softboxes are easy to put together once you figure out what goes where. The other accessories are great too – barn doors w/ colored gels you can change out, very nice gold/black umbrella, etc.
This set was pretty easy to figure out as well. I didn’t have experience w/ strobes at all but have been into photography for several years now. It was pretty easy to figure out how to set them up and how to trigger them – even without directions. The directions that came with the kit were in french and german so they were useless to my southern english twang, lol. None the less, I still managed to put it all together and in about an hour.
Definitely worth the money. I had considered a more expensive “brand name” set but am glad I went with these instead. The day may come when I decide to upgrade but for now, these are perfect!
